Nestled into a typical Amsterdam style street, Waaghals was the very first vegetarian restaurant here. Opening in 1981, their name translates as ‘The Dare-devil’.

The atmosphere is relaxed, and the service very attentive and pleasant. The menu has so many vegan options, it was perfect for us, especially after a day of exploring the city.

The food was freshly prepared, and arranged on the plate with care, always a nice touch.

We ordered pretty much everything vegan from the menu, and shared. Including the bread and crushed olive dip, which was so delicious for something so simple!

The wrap and noodle bowl we had for the main courses were just as tasty. Everything was brought together in a perfect mix of texture and flavour. The tastes completely complimented each other.

The desert – wow. The chocolatey goodness from the ice cream was smooth and rich, with the raspberry puree, crumble, and flavoured ice – it was totally different to anything we had tried before. Devine!

Definitely worth a visit, off the beaten track and great for a nice dinner in a relaxed atmosphere.
