The day after ironman seemed unreal. He did it. I still feels so amazing to say! Michiel was feeling great considering his body had been through so much, and after a long sleep and some stretching, it was like nothing had ever happened…
After a long search on where we could head after Ironman was over, as a recovery trip, but also to completely relax, reset and just switch off from the world, we found Botswana. It was on the top places to visit in October, and started searching some vegan friendly safari trips.
30+ degrees every day, wildlife all around and no stressed from big cities or people. Complete wilderness. It sounded PERFECT! Especially with the added bonus that the places we were going to visit had a reputation for their gorgeous eco lodges and vegan food.
Just 2 days after Ironman was over, we were heading off on the plane(s) to Botswana! Four flights to go – Barcelona – Cairo – Johannesburg – Maun – Kalahari, Deception Valley (our first stop).
