If you haven’t swung from the trees (or gym wall) yourself with TRX suspension training before, the chances are you have already heard about it. Invented by a Navy Seal to keep his fellow troops fit in remote parts of the world, it involves the use of hanging bands to engage muscles using just your own body weight. By changing the way you angle your body, EVERY muscle can be engaged in a pull or push motion – especially great for the core (middle body) – activating it at all times!
Arriving in our new location Pucon – it was time to hit the trees (not literally, don’t worry). We found a perfect spot in a deserted lakeside forest, with plenty of trees! We actually got chased a lot here by killer bees *maybe not killer, but lets say they were for drama*, probably the funniest experience of my life, seeing Michiel run around shouting at a bee that clearly felt threatened. Now I am actually in laughing hysterics as I write this… then it came for me. Not so funny anymore.. for me.
Anyway, killer bees aside, we TRXed in the most amazing location! Overlooking rolling hills, volcanoes and mountains – truly a wonderful experience!
Reflecting on a great workout during cool down…
There are usually trainers who specialise in TRX work, if not, you can find them in most gyms, so be sure to get some help when training with them for the first few times!
