You remember Michiel’s brush with death last week? (AKA – his fall off his bike resulting in a cut arm & leg) Well, it’s almost healed! 5 days, and the scabs are falling off, revealing nice pink fresh skin underneath. I thought this was really quick for the healing process to have processed already, but with my nutrition head on, realised why!

All the vitamins and minerals that are so rich in Michiel’s diet (especially vitamin A, C, Omega 3, Zink, Antioxidants), all offer internal protection against free radicals. Free radicals are molecules in our body that can cause significant damage and come from our external environment – food, high intensity workouts (like running, swimming and cycling – coincidentally), and the chemicals we are all exposed to daily (pollution, creams etc).

Vegan diets can be lacking in these things when not taken seriously – it’s all about knowing what your body needs – and sourcing it from animal free foods, which are super healthy and nutritious for our bodies, with no need to kill other living things to gain them.
