Although I have worked and lived in Amsterdam for years, I never practised any sports at all! So I had no clue where the good pools are.
To make it even more difficult, it was a public holiday! Most pools are closed, or open for families. Imagine me swimming my laps between thousands of screaming toddlers!
After some serious searching, I found the Sloterparkbad at the edge of the city. The Uber driver thought I was crazy going to swim on a holiday!
Sloterparkbad is in one word amazing! It has a 50 meter pool, with lots of natural light. The water temperature is just great. The people are friendly and trying to get swimmers of the same level in the same lanes. The pool is soundproofed so you feel tranquility and noises are softened. The lockers are high tech and everybody has a private dressing cabin. All that for less than 4 euros entry fee.
